The president of the Peruvian Parliament, José Williams, has suspended the plenary session of the lower house after clashes broke out between deputies.

«The session of the Plenary of the Congress is suspended and the Board of Spokespersons is convened,» announced the official profile of the Peruvian Parliament through a message on Twitter.

The plenary session has featured clashes between opposition and government deputies, after parliamentarian Esdras Medina declared that former president Pedro Castillo is to blame for the political crisis for announcing the dissolution of the legislative branch, reports ‘La República’.

After this, deputy Pasión Dávila, of the Peru Libre Party, crossed the chamber and hit parliamentarian Juan Burgos from behind, who tried to chase him, reports RPP radio station.

This Sunday’s parliamentary agenda dealt in an extraordinary way with the request of the Attorney General, Patricia Benavides, against former President Pedro Castillo, the then Prime Minister, Betssy Cháves, and the former Minister of the Interior, Willy Huerta.
