Queen Consort Camilla visited the Bobby Vincent House. Upon her arrival at the center, Mahesh Pherwani, one of the fellow members of this community, and who has lived the center for several years, gave Queen Consort Camilla a tour of the community building. During the visit, Her Majesty toured the thrift store and met with staff and volunteers, before entering the community home and community kitchen.

Camilla also had the opportunity to hear more about Emmaus’ work in the UK to develop women-only provision and was told about how a women-only space is often important for women who have experienced homelessness.

In recent years, Emmaus SLC has extended its work to Croydon, where it offers additional community homes, and they are also seeking to develop women-only provision to address the specific needs of the growing number of women who are now homeless.
