German police have reported that a group of «vandals» chopped down a fully decorated five-meter-high Christmas tree in the city center of Halle in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia on Friday night.
According to local authorities, these were «completely frustrated vandals» who, «after their senseless action», simply left the tree lying there after felling it.
«The total property damage caused cannot be estimated at this time. And even if the baby Jesus and Santa Claus have certainly seen it, the Gutersloh Police are requesting relevant information,» the police said in a statement, asking for more data on the people who sawed down the tree.
