Thailand has deployed warships and helicopters on Monday to locate about 30 people who are missing after a navy ship capsized in a storm.
The Thai Navy reported that by mid-morning it had managed to rescue 78 sailors, out of a total of 106 officers. Among those rescued, three were reported to be in serious condition, according to a Navy statement.
On the other hand, 28 of the soldiers are still missing, although it is assumed that they are afloat thanks to the life jackets, reported the newspaper ‘Bangkok Post’.
The authorities have indicated that the ship sank because of the storm water, suffered a blackout and the engine stopped working. Thus, it would have heeled to starboard.
