The mayor of Kiev has announced in the early hours of Monday morning that several explosions have occurred in two districts of the capital, Solomianski and Shevchenkiviski.
The Kiev Military Administration has indicated that about 15 out of a total of 20 detected Russian Army drones have been shot down. Despite this, some damage to infrastructure in the country has been recorded.
«Unfortunately, there was an impact on the object of critical infrastructure. Emergency services are eliminating the consequences. Information about casualties and destruction is being clarified,» explained the head of the Kiev Civil-Military Administration Serhii Popko.
In addition, some civilian buildings have also been damaged and, for the moment, two victims have been reported and are currently receiving medical treatment, as noted by the spokesman of the local authorities, Oleksiy Kuleba.
Earlier this evening, Russian troops attacked, allegedly with Iranian drones, the Mikolaiv region, while last Friday they damaged about a dozen energy facilities, as reported by the Ukrainian news agency UNIAN.
For its part, the Ukrainian Air Force has assured that in total more than 30 drones have been shot down during the night of December 18-19. «Russian occupation forces attacked Ukraine with Iranian-made ‘Shahed-136’ and ‘Shahed-131’ drones,» it has denounced.
Thus, he has indicated that some of the attacks have been executed from the eastern coast of the Sea of Azov and has stressed that «the Air Force, in cooperation with other components of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, destroyed 30 ‘Shahed’ of the Russian occupiers».
«Units of anti-air missile forces, fighter aircraft and mobile fire groups are involved in the destruction of air targets,» he has stressed. «Glory to Ukraine. Together towards victory,» the Air Force has remonstrated in a message on its Telegram account.
Ukraine has repeatedly alleged the use of Iranian-made drones as part of the invasion, although the Iranian government stressed last week that Kiev has not presented evidence to back up these claims, following the initiation of contacts on the matter to address the situation.
Ukraine announced in November the existence of talks with Tehran on the use of these devices. Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko outlined that Kiev «continues to take the most decisive measures to prevent Russia from using Iranian weapons for war against Ukraine.»
The United States has denounced that Russia bought hundreds of drones on the Iranian market for use in the war, although subsequently both the media and the Ukrainian authorities have detailed that most of the parts from which these types of weapons have been made are of European and American manufacture.
