The Belarusian authorities have extended the temporary restriction of access to some of the territories bordering Ukraine in the midst of the Russian invasion of the neighboring country’s territory.
«Entry has been temporarily restricted, as well as movement within those areas that lie on the border, such as Loevski, Bragin and Joiniki, districts of the Gomel region,» the government said in a document released through the National Legal Internet Portal, a government website used to report on legal matters.
The restrictions will not apply to individuals traveling to the area to work, return to their places of residence or go to the homes of close relatives.
In addition, in exceptional cases, an authorization may be acquired from the State Border Committee, which will facilitate access to those concerned, as stated in the text. These measures will be in force for limited periods of time, although no specific time frame has been specified.
The restrictions were first introduced in June this year and were extended last September until now. The Ukrainian authorities, for their part, continue to warn that Russia is using Belarusian territory to plan attacks from the area and do not rule out that Mink could end up joining the war.
