The Florida Supreme Court on Thursday approved state Governor Ron DeSantis’ request for a special jury to investigate the pharmaceutical companies that manufactured the COVID-19 vaccines for possible irregularities related to side effects.
The Republican governor called in early December for an investigation of the vaccine makers alleging possible side effects that have claimed the lives of dozens of people, the New York Post reported.
In DeSantis’ petition to establish the grand jury, he argued that a Florida Department of Health analysis «found an increase in the relative incidence of heart-related deaths among men aged 18 to 39 within 28 days after vaccination.»
«There shall be promptly impaneled a state grand jury for a period of twelve calendar months, commencing on the date of impanelment, with jurisdiction throughout the state of Florida, to investigate offenses, make indictments, make presentments, and perform all functions of a grand jury with respect to the offenses set forth herein,» the Florida Supreme Court order wields.
In this way, the State Justice will investigate Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, as well as their executives and other medical associations or organizations involved in the creation of vaccines against COVID-19, according to the aforementioned newspaper.
DeSantis has reiterated on more than one occasion that in Florida «it is illegal to deceive and misrepresent,» emphasizing the illegality of allegedly lying about the efficacy of a drug such as the coronavirus vaccines.
