The Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, announced on Friday that he will send another economic aid package valued at 2.5 billion euros by 2023 to Ukraine; a support, he stressed, that they will continue to provide as long as Russia continues with the war it started now ten months ago.
«As long as Russia continues its war against Ukraine, the Netherlands will provide military, humanitarian and diplomatic assistance to Ukraine,» Rutte wrote on his Twitter profile. «Ukraine can rely on the Netherlands,» he stressed For his part, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski confirmed the conversation and thanked him for this new support. «We continue to work together to strengthen defense capabilities, energy stability and restore critical infrastructure,» he has also written on Twitter.
The Ukrainian government press service has reported that in that telephone conversation that both leaders had, Zelenski has told him about the most important conclusions of his recent visit to the United States, the first one made by the Ukrainian president abroad after the beginning of the Russian invasion.
The Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wopke Hoekstra, the Minister of Defense, Kaisa Ollongren, and the Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Lisje Schreinemacher, also took part in the conversation.
So far, the Netherlands had offered about 1 billion euros in military aid, in particular heavy weapons and T-72 tanks.
