Groups of unidentified gunmen have killed two people and abducted more than 30 residents of different communities in the northern Nigerian state of Kaduna in recent days, including minors.

The local governor of Kachia locality, Mustapha Ibrahim, confirmed the abduction on Thursday and claimed that the kidnappers entered the Azara community, taking at least ten people, the ‘Daily Trust’ newspaper has reported.

«This morning, again, I received a call that bandits invaded Kurutu village and killed a retired military man and one of his sons and took away some food,» he said, adding that 12 other people were abducted by unidentified gunmen on Sunday in Kadara village in Kagarko locality.

The governor also confirmed that at least 13 people, 12 women and one man, were abducted by «bandits» in Janjala village, also in Kagarko, on Thursday. The incident was also confirmed by the village head, Aliyu Ibrahim, according to the said media.

The «bandits» in Kaduna have become a scourge for the country’s authorities, who have gone so far as to declare these organizations as terrorist groups to facilitate security operations.

The «bandits» also include armed groups that intervene on behalf of one side or another in the numerous inter-community clashes that have been raging in the African state for decades, and kidnappers who specialize in assaults on educational institutions in the northwest of the country, such as in Zamfara state.
