The Taiwanese Defense Ministry reported Monday that it has detected 71 Chinese aircraft and seven Chinese warships in the vicinity of the island, while denouncing that the Chinese Army has crossed the Taiwan Strait with 47 of the reported aircraft.
These figures mark a new high in the number of daily Chinese military flights in the area, coinciding with military exercises, conducted Sunday, in response to U.S. President Joe Biden’s signing of a law increasing security assistance to Taiwanese authorities.
The island’s authorities have detailed that the raids have been carried out by 42 fighter jets, two marine patrol aircraft, an early warning aircraft and drones.
Defense has reported that its Armed Forces have monitored the situation and have responded by assigning combat air patrol aircraft, Navy ships and land-based missile systems to the raids.
