The head of Iran’s Armed Forces, Mohamad Hosein Baqeri, has branded as «psychological warfare» the accusations against Tehran for allegedly sending drones to Russia for use in the framework of the invasion of Ukraine, which he has again rejected.

Baqeri has blamed the accusations on «global arrogance» and said that «it is part of the enemy’s psychological warfare», while stressing that the fact that these accusations are being made is proof of the «great influence» and «importance» of the drone industry in Iran, as reported by the Iranian news agency Tasnim.

He said Iran is one of the top five powers in this field and added that the authorities will continue to increase the capabilities of its drones. «In line with the decisions and guidelines of the Islamic Republic, we will continue to cooperate with other countries in the drone industry,» he said.

Iranian Defense Minister Mohamad Reza Ashtiani stressed nearly two weeks ago that Ukraine has not presented evidence to back up its accusations of Russia’s use of Iranian-made drones as part of the invasion, unleashed on February 24 on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He revealed that experts from Tehran and Kiev had held a meeting to discuss the situation and added that «the Ukrainian side has not submitted any documents on Russia’s use of Iranian drones». Kiev has repeatedly accused Tehran of these deliveries.

The United States has denounced that Russia bought hundreds of drones on the Iranian market for use in the war, although subsequently both the media and the Ukrainian authorities have detailed that most of the parts from which these types of weapons have been made are of European and American manufacture.
