The Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights of Russia on Monday expressed its readiness and commitment to facilitate access for members of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to Ukrainian prisoners of war.
The head of the Council, Valery Fadeev, informed that several weeks ago, in early December, he received a visit from ICRC representatives asking him to facilitate their access to Ukrainian prisoners.
Now, Fadeev has informed that the international humanitarian organization will not only be able to visit the prisoners, but the Council will do its best to facilitate the bureaucratic procedures, another demand made by the ICRC.
In addition, the head of the Council reported that ICRC members have «very positive reports» on the living conditions of Ukrainian prisoners in Russian custody, Interfax reports.
