French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu arrived in Kiev on Wednesday as part of a visit during which he will reaffirm Paris’ military support for Ukraine in the face of the Russian invasion unleashed on February 24 on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Lecornu, who laid a wreath in front of the ‘wall of heroes’ in the capital, will meet in the coming hours with his Ukrainian counterpart, Oleksi Reznikov, as reported by the television channel BFMTV. The visit is Lecornu’s first since the outbreak of the war.
France, which hosted on December 13 an international conference in support of Ukraine, has since the beginning of the conflict delivered various armaments to Kiev to cope with the Russian military offensive. French President Emmanuel Macron announced last week that rocket launchers and Crotale missile batteries will soon be sent.
