Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday pointed out that the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporiyia and Kherson «need to be liberated».
According to the head of the Russian diplomacy, these territories should not succumb to the alleged attack of another state because they are part of Russia’s borders and are under the legislation of the Russian Constitution, he said in an interview to Channel One and reported by TASS.
When asked whether Russia has yet to liberate «those territories», Lavrov affirmed that «indeed».
«It is the fruit of the popular will expressed in the four regions. It happened some time ago in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and this autumn in the Zaporiyia and Kherson regions,» he said, referring to the alleged referendums held by the Kremlin in September.
Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Minister noted that Russia «is determined» to make sure that its «special military operation» – as they call the invasion of Ukraine – will achieve its objectives.
