Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen highlighted Cristiano Ronaldo’s «special legacy» at the club and acknowledged that «it was nice» to play alongside the Portuguese, but at the same time affirmed that «football goes on», in relation to the Portuguese’s departure from the club before the World Cup.

«First of all, we are sad that Ronaldo is no longer part of United, his legacy and his name at any club are special, for me it was very nice to be lucky enough to play with him,» Eriksen said.

However, after the praise, the Dane made it clear that «football goes on», also after the agreement between Ronaldo and the club to terminate his contract. «You feel that the next game people will forget about the past and now our focus is on the team, without him,» he sentenced.

«The atmosphere is good, we have a lot of people coming back from the World Cup, and everyone is coming together. It helps to win games, also before we went to the World Cup we had good games and good wins and that makes it easier to come back,» he added about the team’s dynamic.

And one of those who has returned best from the World Cup is Marcus Rashford, scoring in the 3-0 drubbing against Nottingham Forest, in the first ‘post Ronaldo’ game. «He’s played really well, luckily I haven’t been on the pitch yet and he’s had a bad game. He looks sharp and confident. You feel it in the stadium and in him, it’s a nice thing and I hope he keeps it up,» the Dane wished on the striker.
