U.S. President Joe Biden on Thursday signed a $1.7 billion (€1.6 million) government spending bill that includes an additional aid package for Ukraine.
The president, who has assured that this measure puts «an end to a year of historic progress», has maintained that he expects more progress in 2023, as he has indicated in a message on the social network Twitter.
«Will invest in medical research, security, veterans health care, disaster recovery, VAWA funding and get crucial assistance for Ukraine,» reported Biden, who signed the bill during his vacation in the Virgin Islands.
The White House has stressed that this bill «promotes key priorities» for the country, considering it «good» for the country’s economy, competitiveness and communities.
«This bill is further proof that Republicans and Democrats can come together to deliver for the American people, and I look forward to continued bipartisan progress in the coming year,» Biden said following congressional passage of the bill.
