Moldovan President Maia Sandu has assured that when she ascended to the head of state she intended to start a dialogue with Russia to build constructive relations, but after the invasion of Ukraine she no longer has «nothing to talk about» with Moscow.
«When we came to power, we declared that we wanted constructive relations with Russia. After this war has started, what kind of relationship can there be with an aggressor, with a state that kills its neighbors?» the Moldovan president asserted.
Sandu accused Russia of making «threats» and «attempts to intimidate other countries» its main «tools» for diplomacy and regretted that the Russian authorities limit themselves to attacking other countries on a regular basis.
On the other hand, following Moscow’s criticism of the fact that Moldova stores gas exported from Russia in Ukraine, Sandu asserted that it is none of the Russian authorities’ business where Chisinau stores its gas reserves.
Moldova, a neighboring country of Ukraine, has been one of the main countries to reproach Russia for the war unleashed on Ukrainian territory. On February 24, the day the conflict broke out, Chisinau declared a state of emergency, which has been extended several times and now also establishes energy regulations.
