The UK Department of Health and Social Care confirmed Friday that, as of January 5, passengers arriving from China will be required to present a negative coronavirus test performed no more than 48 hours in advance.
The authorities have stressed that this measure is «precautionary and temporary», and for the moment will only be imposed in England, although Downing Street is now in talks with Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to implement the same rules there, even if they do not have direct flights with China.
The UK joins a growing list of countries, including Spain, that are imposing access restrictions for passengers arriving from China in response to the rise of contagions in the Asian giant and the easing of restrictions.
