Russian authorities announced Thursday a new two-week extension, until January 20, of the terror alert level in the Belgorod region, located in the west of the country, on the border with Ukraine.
The ‘yellow’ terrorist danger alert has now been extended, as indicated by the governor of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, through a brief message on his Telegram account.
This allows the authorities to take additional measures to ensure the safety of the population in the face of «imminent threats, especially of a terrorist attack», although the measure is framed against the backdrop of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The region in question borders Ukraine, where attacks have been taking place for almost a year. The terror alert dates back to April 2022, when it was first put in place.
