The Ukrainian government has asserted that «the era of taboo on weapons is over» and guaranteed that this year «it will receive weapons it could not get in 2022,» following recent announcements on new arms deliveries by the United States, France and Germany.
«The first week of 2023 proves it. Battle tanks and armored vehicles from France, Marder armored vehicles from the United States and Germany and an additional Patriot battery from Ukraine, as well as ammunition and much more,» Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dimitro Kuleba stressed.
«Wait for the announcement of the new U.S. (aid) package,» he stressed through a message posted on his Facebook social network account, before stating that Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski «is conducting a diplomatic marathon this week, holding talks with three or four leaders a day.»
Thus, he revealed that «some decisions on arms supplies are taken during the talks and some will be approved on the basis of their results». «It was the president’s idea to start the diplomatic year with an acceleration, as intense and objective as possible, which has yielded concrete results,» he said.
«Thanks to this hard work and heroism of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and all the Ukrainian Defense Forces, the president’s diplomatic team has been able to convince the allies,» said Kuleba, who stressed that it is now entering «a decisive phase» in which «there can be only one goal, which is the victory of Ukraine.»
«This is the only way to ensure a lasting and just peace and security in Europe,» he stressed, while stressing that «with each announcement» on the delivery of weapons «the Kremlin’s teeth grind more. «We will continue to work as a team for the strengthening of Ukraine and our defenders so that this year will be the year of victory,» he concluded.
Kuleba’s message was published hours after the United States and Germany announced that they will supply armored personnel carriers to Ukraine as part of the war launched on February 24, 2022 on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
U.S. President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz have agreed to send Western-designed vehicles, after French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday promised Kiev the «first battle tanks» of French manufacture.
