Polish authorities reported Friday that the Armed Forces will carry out training for some 200,000 reservists in the midst of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The spokeswoman for the country’s Military Recruitment Center, Yustina Balik, said in an interview with the PAP news agency that the plan includes mandatory training for «a maximum of 200,000 army reservists».
Balik has indicated that these reservists have been previously selected for possible mobilization. In addition, he explained that up to 3,000 reservists without military experience may be included in the training group.
The Polish Army reserve includes people up to 55 years of age, who are recognized as fit for service. However, «active reservists» are those ex-military personnel who undergo training for two days every three months.
The Polish forces currently number 164,000, although the government expects to have up to 300,000 troops in total.
