Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson assured Friday that the war in Ukraine will be the «top priority» of the Swedish presidency of the European Union after a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski.
«Ukraine is a key priority for the Swedish EU presidency. Today, we continued to discuss the matter with President Volodimir Zelenski in connection with the continued military assistance to Ukraine,» he said in a message on his Twitter account.
The Ukrainian president himself has indicated after his conversation with Kristersson that he expects negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU to start «as soon as possible», especially under the Swedish presidency.
He also warned about the increase of hostilities on the front line and the need for Ukraine to strengthen its Armed Forces.
