U.S. officials announced Friday that they will deliver a new military aid package to Ukraine valued at $3 billion (about 2.8 billion euros), of which $682 million (563 million euros) will be earmarked to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank.
White House spokeswoman Karine Jean Pierre said that the funding for the eastern flank will be used by regional partners to «replenish their military equipment», according to a statement from the US Presidency.
She stressed that these funds are part of a record package of military aid delivered by the United States since the beginning of the Russian invasion of the territory.
He also pointed out that the new military aid will include combat vehicles and surface-to-air missiles, as well as 225 million dollars (about 211 million euros) for «long-term capacity building and modernization of the Ukrainian Armed Forces».
