Russian authorities on Tuesday described as «cynical and inexplicable» the reaction of the Ukrainian government to the truce announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of the Orthodox Christmas holiday on January 7.
The Kremlin spokesman, Dimitri Peskov, has thus criticized Kiev’s reaction and pointed out that it is a «totally incomprehensible and inexplicable» position, not only on the part of Kiev «but also of several Western countries».
In this sense, he has asked to take into account only the objective of this type of cease-fire: «it is a purely humanitarian issue». «If this truce helped even one person, it has achieved its goal,» he pointed out, according to information gathered by the TASS news agency.
On the other hand, Peskov has indicated this same Tuesday that both NATO and the United States are «indirectly but ‘de facto’ involved in the Ukrainian conflict».
«Indirectly, indirectly, but NATO and the United States are definitely involved in this conflict,» he qualified. «They have become ‘de facto’ part of it,» he has maintained.
In addition, he recalled the continuous sending of «arms, technology and intelligence information» to Ukraine and stressed that «their involvement is obvious». However, he ruled out that this type of declarations would lead to an increase in aid to Kiev on the part of the Alliance.
