At least six people were injured Wednesday at the hands of a man armed with a knife at the Gare du Nord train station in Paris, the French capital, which ended with the alleged attacker «neutralized» and arrested.
The events took place at 6.40 am, when an «extremely threatening individual» started an attack inside the station, explained the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, in statements to the media accompanied by the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo.
Three minutes later, he was shot down by plain-clothes policemen who were returning home and were armed, in an intervention that also involved border agents.
During this time, six people were wounded, including one person who has been evacuated to a hospital in serious condition and a border policeman. The alleged assailant, whose identity or motivation have not been disclosed, also remains in critical condition.
The judicial police have taken charge of the investigations, according to prosecutorial sources quoted by Franceinfo. The authorities have not determined the circumstances of the attack, although for the moment they have not indicated that it is of a terrorist nature.
