Polish President Andrzej Duda confirmed Wednesday that a Leopard tank company, consisting of 10 to 14 tanks, will be sent to Ukraine as the first supply in the framework of a newly created «international coalition».
«Within the coalition creation, a company of Leopard tanks will be transferred. But for this it is necessary to fulfill a whole complex of formal requirements and approvals,» Duda said from Kiev, where he traveled together with his Lithuanian counterpart, Gitanas Nauseda.
Duda stressed that Poland is the first country to provide assistance to Ukraine within the framework of this coalition, and expressed hope that other countries will join the international initiative and strengthen the capabilities of the Ukrainian army, Ukrinform reported.
At this point, he highlighted the large supplies delivered by Warsaw to Kiev since the outbreak of the war. According to the Polish head of state, the aid packages to Ukraine include tanks, ammunition, automatic rifles and artillery systems.
On the other hand, Nauseda has informed that Lithuania will send Ukraine new air defense systems and other anti-aircraft infrastructure. «We once again confirm our firm commitment to victory over the aggressor,» the Lithuanian president has said.
Duda and Nauseda met Wednesday with their Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zelenski, in the framework of a new summit of the Lublin Triangle, an alliance formed by the three countries and whose main goal is to ensure the security of Ukraine and the region in general.
