The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) reported Thursday that two ‘blue helmets’ of French nationality have been arrested in the African country.
«MINUSCA confirms the arrest of two members of its team (international consultants) on Tuesday around 16.00 (local time) upon their arrival at the Bangui M’Poko International Airport,» the mission said in a statement.
It explained that it is «in contact with the authorities of the Central African Republic to resolve the situation».
Sources close to the matter have indicated in declarations to the news portal Nouvelles Plus that the arrest took place after the two French soldiers arrived in the territory without a visa.
