Ukrainian authorities reported Monday that 40 people, including three children, have been killed in an attack on Saturday by the Russian army on a residential building in the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine has released a message on its official Telegram channel in which it has updated the death toll of the event, also raising to 75 the number of injured people, 14 of them minors.
Authorities have managed to rescue 39 people, six of them minors, and have warned that it is estimated that more than 30 others are still missing. Emergency services have already removed more than 8,000 tons of debris and 41 damaged cars.
Earlier, the governor of the homonymous province, Valentin Reznichenko, had indicated that rescue services have been working throughout the night pulling bodies and survivors from the rubble.
«Search and rescue operations and the dismantling of dangerous structural elements are underway,» said the Emergency Service, whose psychologists have also treated about a hundred victims.
On the other hand, the emergency authorities have reported that a total of 544 people and 75 units have participated in the rescue operation.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmigal reported on Sunday that Ukraine had been the target of more than 30 missiles launched by the Russian Armed Forces, 20 of which were shot down by defense systems.
