The White House and the U.S. Secret Service said Monday that there is no visitor log at U.S. President Joe Biden’s home in Wilmington, Delaware, because it is a «private» residence.
«Like all presidents over the decades of modern history, his personal residence is personal,» explained the spokesman for the White House counsel’s office, Ian Sams, in a statement, as reported by NBC News.
Despite this, he has indicated that upon taking office, President Biden «restored the rule of having a record of visitors to the White House» after the administration of former President Donald Trump dismissed this measure.
In parallel, the spokesman for the US Secret Service, Anthony Guglielmi, has also indicated that this federal agency has no list of visitors, although it provides security to the house and registers guests before entering, as reported by CNN.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Kentucky, sent a letter Sunday to White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain requesting the visitor logs while the Justice Department investigates the classified documents found.
The White House reported Saturday that six more secret pages were found Wednesday in a room adjacent to the garage at Biden’s Wilmington residence, dating from the time he was vice president with Barack Obama.
