Italy’s Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, has pointed out that countries such as Turkey, the Vatican or China can be «decisive» in bringing the Ukrainian and Russian governments to sit down at a dialogue table to form some kind of peace agreement.
Highlighting the role of Turkey during the last months, where the country led by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has carried out many efforts for both sides to reach a peace agreement, Tajani mentioned which countries, in his opinion, could be at a possible dialogue table.
«I believe that Turkey, together with the United Nations, the Vatican, China and the United States can be decisive in bringing the two sides to sit down at a table that will lead, at least, to a ceasefire,» Tajani said during an interview with public broadcaster Radio 1.
In this regard, he congratulated Turkey for the role it has played during the conflict so far.
«Certainly, Turkey can do a lot. It has already done a lot and I have encouraged the Turkish government to continue its attempts to bring Russia and Ukraine to a peace agreement,» said the head of Italian diplomacy.
