Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Tuesday paid a visit to Russian troops deployed in eastern Ukraine, where he was briefed on «the current situation» of the Vostok group’s actions and applauded the «dignity» of the servicemen.
Shoigu inspected the base of the Vostok group and «listened to commanders of formations carrying out combat missions in the main directions,» the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement posted on its Telegram account.
«During his work, the Russian Defense Minister has paid special attention to the organization of comprehensive support for the troops involved in the special military operation, the organization of fortification work and the creation of conditions for the safe deployment of personnel on the ground, as well as the work of medical teams and units in the rear,» it noted.
Thus, he emphasized that «Shoigu thanked the servicemen who bravely carry out their tasks in the area of the state military operation and handed out decorations for their dedication and heroism.» «You serve with dignity, protect the Motherland, help those who need help and do everything possible to bring Victory Day closer,» the minister concluded.
