Brazil’s former Defense Minister Walter Braga Netto has denied any involvement in the drafting of the decree to reverse the outcome of the last elections found in the home of former Justice Minister Anderson Torrres, imprisoned for his alleged role in the coup attacks of January 8.
«It never happened. It is enough to look at those who would have participated. Pure speculation,» said the man who ran as Jair Bolsonaro’s vice-president in the last elections, thus denying the rumors that had spread in Brazil this week.
Last week, as part of the operation against former minister Torres for alleged connivance and omission of functions as secretary of Security of the Federal District during the attacks by Bolsonaro’s followers on the Esplanade of the Ministries, the authorities found the draft of a decree with which it would be intended to reverse the outcome of the elections.
However, this week, the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) accepted a lawsuit against Braga Netto and Jair Bolsonaro himself for an alleged crime of abuse of power during the elections for the use of the Executive and Presidential headquarters to promote and «publicize» his electoral proposal, thus «distorting» the function of these spaces.
