
The Russian government claimed Monday to have seized the Ukrainian town of Krasnopolie, located in the Donetsk region (east), amid the advances of Russian forces in this area of the country, the epicenter of the fighting unleashed after the invasion order given in February 2022 by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said that «in the direction of Donetsk, volunteers of assault detachments with fire support of tactical and military aviation, missile and artillery troops of the Southern Military District liberated the locality of Krasnopolie».
In this regard, he detailed that more than 60 Russian servicemen were killed in the fighting and added that combat vehicles and other weapons used by the Russian Armed Forces were also destroyed, as reported by the Russian news agency Interfax.
