Energy Minister Jurrum Dastagir said Monday that electricity will be fully restored from 10:00 p.m. (local time) following a major power failure that has left the entire country in darkness.
«We are doing everything possible to achieve restoration before that time,» the Energy portfolio holder has specified, adding that the power plant in the city of Uch is currently operational, as reported by ‘Dawn’ newspaper.
Dastagir has detailed that the government is monitoring the failures along with the National Power Control Center (NPCC). In addition to the electricity generated by the Uch power plant, which is being diverted to Balochistan and parts of Punjab, the Thar project, which distributes to K-Electric, also operates in Karachi.
The country’s Ministry of Energy reported earlier that at around 7.34 local time (3.34 Spanish peninsular time) there has been a reduction in frequency in the national grid, which has caused a widespread failure.
