At least one person has been killed and a dozen injured in the wake of nine powerful tornadoes in less than 48 hours in the U.S. states of Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas, where at least 50 homes have been flattened.
The most affected place has been the Texas county of Lamar, where a dozen people have been injured, including two in critical condition, but stabilized, according to the county sheriff’s office in a statement reported by the newspaper ‘The Hill’.
The deceased was identified in McCurtain County, Oklahoma, according to the head of Emergency Cody McDaniel.
Rescue services are now in the town of Idabel, where an undetermined number of people are missing, reports CNN.
Experts have identified 14 large tornadoes last night, nine of them in Texas alone, and warnings are in effect until sunrise in the three states mentioned, as well as in Missouri.
