The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned Thursday that the Russian Army has not withdrawn its aircraft from Belarus after the conclusion of joint training held this week.
«Joint training of the aviation component of the Russian and Belarusian Armed Forces aviation component has been completed. The return of the enemy’s aviation group to its airfields has not been detected,» the Ukrainian Army has related in a statement.
Based on the presence of Russian aviation in Belarus, Kiev insisted that the threat of air strikes remains high, especially since in the last day there have been offensives at various points of the Ukrainian geography.
Russia and Belarus started on Tuesday a «joint training session» of their joint regional forces in preparation for maneuvers to be held by the two armies in Russia in September, the Belarusian Defense Ministry announced.
Minsk stressed that the training was aimed at «increasing compatibility between the command and control military bodies of the two states as a phase of preparations for the joint Union Shield 2023 maneuvers, to be held in September 2023 on the territory of Russia.»
Moscow and Minsk want to improve the coordination of their respective forces, although both sides have denied that the Belarusian Army will be directly involved in the offensive on Ukraine, despite the fact that the territory of Belarus has already served as a base for operations.
Ukraine, in fact, considers Belarus as a party to the conflict and fears that Minsk is looking for some kind of excuse to intervene openly.
