The U.S. and South Korean Armed Forces deployed several fighter jets Friday as part of a series of military air maneuvers launched with the aim of enhancing the two countries’ «defense capabilities» in the region.
The South Korean Air Force said in a statement that they have used U.S. F-22 and F-35B fighter jets, with which they have managed to show the «capacity and unchanging willingness» of the United States to «maintain its commitment to security in Asia».
The exercises took place two days after the first air maneuvers over the Yellow Sea, where South Korea deployed F-35A fighter jets.
«The joint exercises have been conducted with the aim of enhancing the operational capabilities of both sides and interoperability between the South Korean and U.S. Air Forces.
The maneuvers come a day after North Korea warned that it could take «forceful measures» against any military action carried out by the U.S. under the «tit-for-tat» principle, including the use of nuclear weapons.
