Ukraine’s parliament on Monday approved a new extension of martial law — the sixth since the start of the Russian invasion nearly a year ago — just hours after the bill was introduced by the country’s president, Volodimir Zelenski, along with that of «general mobilization».
Thus, the National Security, Defense and Intelligence Committee of the Parliament has approved the bill submitted by the president on the extension of martial law and on the period of general mobilization, deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported on his Telegram profile.
Zheleznyak specified that after approving these proposals the new period of martial law will start to run for the next 90 days from February 19.
Ukraine approved on February 24, 2022 martial law and introduced a state of «general mobilization», hours after the beginning of the Russian invasion. Following this, these measures have been extended a total of five times to date.
