Ghanaian soccer player Christian Atsu has been found alive after being trapped under the rubble of a collapsed building following Monday’s earthquakes in southern Turkey near the Syrian border, the vice president of Hatayspor soccer club, in whose squad he is currently playing, has confirmed.
«Christian Atsu was rescued injured,» Hatayspor vice-president Mustafa Ozak told Turkish broadcaster Radyo Gol. «Our sporting director, Taner Savut, is unfortunately still in the rubble,» he lamented.
Atsu, 30, previously spent time with Malaga (LaLiga), Chelsea and Newcastle (Premier League). The Ghanaian midfielder, who is in his first season with the Turkish club, scored the winning goal in Hatayspor’s 1-0 victory over Kasimpasa in the Turkish Super League on Sunday.
