A white horse linked to the daughter of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has shared the limelight with weapons and military vehicles during the parade for the anniversary of the creation of the Armed Forces, a message with which the regime apparently wants to make it clear that dynastic continuity is guaranteed.
Kim Jong Un’s only known daughter, Ju Ae, has become increasingly visible in official acts of her father, in a country where no public political gesture is casual.
In fact, U.S.-based Radio Free Asia reported Saturday that authorities have already begun asking female citizens named Ju Ae to change their names, as was once done for all previous North Korean leaders.
On Sunday, the official North Korean broadcaster deliberately included among the images displayed by the parade those of a white horse, the «most beloved» by Kim’s «beloved» daughter, according to the South Korean news agency Yonhap. Such animals are a family symbol.
Kim Jong Un posed on the back of one of these horses in October 2019, on the iconic Mount Paektu from which his lineage supposedly originates, a few months after his last summit with then-U.S. President Donald Trump failed.
