Authorities in Turkey are continuing their surveillance of social networks following the powerful earthquakes a week ago and have already detained 56 people, according to data from the police, who have confirmed the formal arrest of 14 of these suspects.
Security forces have identified 475 users for content that would attempt to «spread fear» among citizens, an ambiguous term that usually generates doubts among human rights organizations.
On the other hand, the police have launched raids against pages and profiles posing as official institutions, asking for money to help earthquake victims. 41 portals and three cryptocurrency platforms have already been closed, according to the official note.
