The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Monday the conquest of the town of Krasnaya Gora, located in the Ukrainian region of Donetsk, with which it manages to further increase its encirclement of the city of Bajmut, the main Russian aspiration in recent weeks.

«In the Donetsk direction, volunteers of the assault detachment, supported by the fire of missile and artillery troops of the Southern Forces Group, liberated the settlement of Krasnaya Gora,» Russian Defense Spokesman Igor Konashenkov stressed.

Following this information, Yan Gagin, one of the main advisors to the government of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), controlled by pro-Russian authorities, stressed that the control over Krasnaya Gora will serve to dominate the approaches to Bakhmut.

«Krasnaya Gora is one of the key strongholds for increasing control over the approaches to Bakhmut. Consequently, this is the key to further offensive and capture of the city,» Gagin told Rossiya-24 TV channel.

In fact, the DPR advisor has advanced that the Russian troops are already advancing towards Bakhmut, controlling some points of the road, and has ventured that «the Ukrainian garrison in Bakhmut is doomed». «Sooner or later they will surrender it (Bakhmut)», he concluded.
