Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley announced Tuesday her candidacy in the Republican Party primaries for the 2024 presidential election, in which she has for now as her only confirmed rival former President Donald Trump.
Haley, who precisely served as U.S. ambassador to the UN during Trump’s presidency, has recalled in a video that «Republicans have lost the popular vote in seven of the last ten elections.» «That has to change,» she proclaimed.
Among his first messages are pleas for «fiscal responsibility» and the strengthening of border security, as well as criticisms against the «socialist left» that wants to «rewrite history» and, in particular, against the current tenant of the White House, Joe Biden.
Haley has claimed her mixed origins and that her work in foreign policy has allowed her to «put things in perspective» about the real risks and challenges in the United States. She also recalled in her video the shooting at a church in Charleston that resulted in June 2015 in the death of nine people, all of them black.
The former governor is, for now, the only person who has stepped forward on the Republican side after Trump’s announcement, who aspires to return to the White House four years after his defeat against Biden.
