Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced Thursday that he will dismiss his Minister of Communications, Juscelino Filho, if he does not prove his innocence after being accused of corruption.
This was confirmed by the Brazilian president in an interview with Band News, affirming that the minister has the right to defend himself but cannot remain in the Executive if he cannot prove his innocence.
»I tried to talk to Juscelino this week (…) He has the right to prove his innocence. But if he does not prove his innocence, he cannot stay in the government,» said Lula da Silva.
According to the newspaper ‘O Estado de S.Paulo’, the Brazilian Minister of Communications made a four-day working trip to the city of Sao Paulo, although during three days he fulfilled a »mainly personal» agenda.
During his stay in the Brazilian city, paid with government money, Filho would have dedicated most of the time to activities related to his racehorses and participated in auctions.
In this sense, the head of the Trade portfolio has so far made two international trips — to Portugal and Spain for a value of 34,000 reais (more than 6,000 euros), according to the G1 channel.
