Ukrainian authorities confirmed Monday the nationalization of five major arms companies, a decision that the country’s president, Volodimir Zelenski, justified as a «necessary» step to ensure the proper functioning of the defense sector.
«Our rejection of the enemy must be as effective and coordinated as possible (…) These steps (the nationalization of enterprises) are necessary for our state in conditions of war, they are carried out in accordance with the law and will help ensure the urgent needs of the defense sector,» said the president.
Zelensky also insisted that in a context obviously marked by war, it is necessary for the authorities to lead the main forces of the country to free themselves from the Russian invasion and support the army in its mission, Ukrinform reported.
