At least nine police officers were killed and eleven others were injured Monday in a bomb attack in Balochistan, southwest Pakistan.
The Balochistan Police have indicated that preliminary evidence suggests that it was a suicide attack. However, the exact cause of the blast could be determined after investigations.
The injured have been taken to nearby hospitals, while the area has been cordoned off and security forces are in the area to defuse the bombs.
The region has since the 2000s had the presence of the separatist group Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), considered a terrorist organization by Pakistan, the United Kingdom and the United States. Since then it has fought a bloody struggle with the Islamabad authorities to achieve self-determination for Balochistan.
