U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield has traveled to Ukraine’s capital, Kiev, where she plans to renew Washington’s commitment to the defense of the European country in the context of the war, regardless of the outcome of Tuesday’s mid-term elections.

«U.S. Ambassador to the UN is in Kiev for a day of meetings to reiterate America’s unwavering support for Ukraine as it defends its freedom and sovereignty amid Russia’s brutal and unprovoked invasion,» Thomas-Greenfield’s spokesman, Nate Evans, tweeted.

«There is clear bipartisan support for U.S. support for Ukraine,» a senior U.S. administration official told the media, assuring that «that support will continue as long as it is needed,» CNN reports.

Within the framework of her visit to Kiev, Thomas-Greenfield plans to meet with Ukrainian farmers, forensic experts who will explain some of the massacres perpetrated by Russia in the country, as well as with the President of Ukraine himself, Volodimir Zelenski, to whom she will convey Washington’s «unwavering commitment».

Thomas-Greenfield’s visit comes less than a week after U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan made a surprise trip to Kiev to meet with the country’s top leaders to discuss the weapons package Washington confirmed for the Ukrainian military.
