The Governor of the State of Florida, Ron DeSantis, and Senator Marco Rubio, both from the Republican Party, have managed to overcome their Democratic rivals and have managed to be reelected in the U.S. midterm legislative elections.

DeSantis and Rubio have managed to stay in office, as governor and senator, respectively, after fulfilling the predictions of the polls that showed them as favorites against the Democratic candidates Charlie Crist and the aspiring senator Val Demings.

The current governor, 44, who has promised to eliminate permits to carry firearms and to continue «expanding pro-life protections,» is considered a possible presidential candidate for 2024, becoming a rival to former President Donald Trump, who has already mocked him at campaign events.

Democrat Crist had difficulty gaining support after the arrival in September of Hurricane Ian, which paralyzed meetings, postponed a rally and the only scheduled debate of the campaign. Biden also congratulated DeSantis on his handling of the storm during a joint appearance, according to CNN.

DeSantis’ victory over former Rep. Crist confirms the Republican trend in the East Coast state, as he has achieved a quick victory on election night, compared to Election Day four years ago, when the victory between the two rivals was close, differing only by less than half a percentage point.
