The U.S. state of Missouri has approved a ballot measure to legalize recreational marijuana, NBC has reported.
The measure removes existing state prohibitions on marijuana. It also legalizes the purchase, possession, consumption, use, manufacture and sale for personal use by those 21 years of age and older.
It also allows individuals with certain marijuana-related offenses to be released from prison and have their records expunged.
Maryland voted in favor of legalizing recreational marijuana, while North Dakota, South Dakota and Arizona have rejected legalization efforts.
