At least nine people have been killed and two injured following a shooting at a bar in the city of Guanajato, in the central state of the same name, local authorities have reported.
Specifically, five men and four women have lost their lives, while two other women had to be hospitalized at a nearby medical center after being injured, as detailed by ‘Milenio’.
At 21.00 hours (local time) emergency services received an alert about gunshots at the Lexus bar, located on Federal Highway 45 or Panamerican Highway that crosses the entire country from north to south.
According to reports, armed men arrived at the scene of the incident aboard a pick-up truck and fired at the people present. The municipal government has detailed that the suspects belong to a criminal group.
The police have launched an investigation to clarify what happened, although the motive for the shooting is not known at this time.
